Black Out wins at CinemAmbiente


We are absolutely delighted that Black Out has won the Award for Best Medium Length Documentary at Cinemambiente in Italy.


The jury said the following: “Starting from the problem of lack of accessibility to electricity, the film proceeds with formal elegance and sensitivity to the vision of a community in search of its future. Despite the paradoxical situation of a country where political and economic corruption is rife, the film gives a poetic portrait of the daily quest for hope.”

Black Out at the East End Film Festival


Black Out will screen on Sunday June 30th as part of the East End Film Festival’s Documentary afternoon.

Preview of Black Out at Open City in London


Black Out will be screened as preview/work-in-progess at Open City Film Festival in London. The film will be presented as part of One World Echoes in collaboration with One World Prague, Czech Centre London, and Frontline Club.

Black Out to screen at LA Film Fest


We are so happy that Black Out will screen as part of the international showcase at LA Film Fest. The international showcase highlights innovative independent narrative and documentary features from outside the United States. LA Film Fest runs from June 13-23 2013.

Black Out wins Jury Award at Aljazeera Film Festival


We are delighted that Black Out has won the Jury Award (Medium Film) at 9th Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival.  We had an absolutely amazing time at the festival, thank you so much.

Polish Premiere of Black Out at Planete + Doc


Black Out will receive its Polish premiere at the 10th Planete + Doc Film Festival in May 2013. The festival runs from May 9 to May 19, and Black Out will be screening on May 14 at 21.00, May 15 at 18.00  and May 19 at 16.00  at the Kinoteka.

We are delighted that Black Out will screen at Full Frame on Saturday, April 6th at 10 am. The festival will take place in Durham between April 4 - 7, 2013.

Black Out wins in Paris


We are delighted that Black Out won the Award for Best Short Documentary at Environmental Film Festival in Paris. Thank you so much to the organisers, jury members and audiences who came to see the film there.

French Premiere of Black Out at FIFE


Black Out will receive its French premiere at the 30th International Environmental Film Festival at the end of February. Eva will be in Paris for the screenings between Saturday 23rd and Monday 25th 2013.

Screening of Black Out in Conakry, Guinea


Eva recently went back to Guinea, to present the film at two screenings organised by UNICEF/Guinea, and take part in a panel discussions. The screenings were attended by government officials, local NGO’s, representatives of children/parent organisations and contributors to the film. UNICEF is hoping the screenings will kickstart a debate around education in the country.

Black Out to receive Liberty Grant from Chicken & Egg Pictures

Black Out selected for SDI Rough Cut Screenings 2012


‘Black Out’ has been selected for a rough cut screening as part of the Scottish Documentary Institute’s Edinburgh Pitch. This follows on the from the successful pitch of the project at the 2011 Edinburgh Pitch.

Black Out awarded a Puma Creative.Catalyst Award


We are delighed that our documentary ‘Black Out’ has been awarded with a Puma Creative.Catalyst Award in partnership with BRITDOC.


We have also joined forced with HSI London to produce the film. Claire Neate James at HSI London is the new co-producer of the film.
